A Last Smoke
A short story
Hello all.
First, a quick update: the kind folks at Queer Majority recently posted my piece on the rights of LGBT people (or lack thereof) in communist countries, namely Cuba and the Soviet Union, so make sure you check this out if you haven’t already.
Next: this might be surprising to many of you reading, but I have long-been a writer of fiction. I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this in a few places, but that was really how I got my start in all of this “content creation,” or whatever we want to call it. Because I keep making posts about stuff that will be coming out, I figured I would add something as a bonus to all of you kind enough to support History Impossible financially. If you’d like to give this one (and any others I decide to release), consider becoming a financial supporter here on Substack or over on Patreon, if that’s more your thing.
Quick summary of sorts, this is one of the many short stories I’ve written over the years, inspired pretty obviously by my love of the works by Cormac McCarthy and the films of John Hillcoat and Martin Scorsese. So without further ado, this is “A Last Smoke.”
